Norwegian Church Association
5065 Sherbrooke Street, Lachine, QC.

Since the purchase of a building in Lachine, The Norwegian Church Association or NCA has again become active in the community.  The main purpose of the association is to provide a home for religious services, a meeting place for Norwegians and friends of Norway, and support to all Norwegian groups in the city.  Norwegian/English church services are held on a periodic basis.

The activities include meetings the fourth Wednesday of each month between September and May with interesting presenters on a variety of topics, as well as such annual events as the Christmas Sale held in November - with lots of Norwegian food items, Norwegian handicrafts, pewter, jewelry etc.  We also arrange a traditional Christmas party for children of all ages in December! The Norwegian Club (Norskeklubben) maintains close contact with NCA.

All are welcome. Our meetings and events are open to all people interested in Norway and Norwegian culture.

The Bluenose model in the church is a model to scale.  We have not been able to ascertain who made the model.  It was stored in the Seagulf Industries' board room for some years after the Seamens' Church was closed, but we had it restored and smartened up during 2005 and brought to its new home at the front of the church in January 2006.   Here are both the story and the specifications  for this amazing schooner.

Similarly, the church bell that had been stored at Seagulf's was brought to the church in April, 2006.  Since we don't have a bell tower, the bell has been placed at the back of the sanctuary.

The big hall and the newly renovated kitchen can also be rented by individual members or community organizations needing a convenient, cozy and practical venue for receptions and other big events.
